POPCORN KERNEL
Position Description
Attend the annual Popcorn training informational session provided by our council/ district.
Confirm with the Council that we will be participating in the annual popcorn sales program and meet key metrics and dates for communicating the necessary information for us to participate.
Consult with the Pack leadership to discuss our participation in the annual popcorn sales and to confirm our annual sales goal.
Place pre-orders for popcorn for take orders and show-n-sells.
Pick-up our popcorn order and make sure all cases will fit in your vehicle. Invite volunteers to help you.
Coordinate pack kickoff meeting in August/September
Distribute sales materials to Scouts, explain rules, etc.
Coach participating Scouts on how to approach potential customers and how to sell The Greatest Popcorn on Earth! ·
Schedule Show and Sells with local merchants and schedule Scouts and parents to work
Acquire prizes and incentives
Collect orders from scouts and turn in orders to District Office by due date specified in
Distribute popcorn to scout sellers and monitor that it is delivered to customers and money is collected.
Collect money from scouts and turn in to Pack treasurer
Get check from Pack Treasurer and turn in to District Office by due date
Make sure all post-sale forms are turned in on time to ensure Pack 438 will receive all prizes, awards, and incentives.
Award Prizes at Pack meeting
Contact the Council Popcorn Kernel to confirm information about delivery dates times, and locations.
Desired Skills & Requirements
Organized, detail oriented.
Regularly attends monthly pack committee meetings.
Supports the policies of the BSA.
Will complete Youth Protection Training before starting in the position.
Will complete online training for "Pack Committee (MC)" within 30 days of registering.
Estimated hours per week: 0-3, July-Oct, Feb-April
Timeframe: Year-round, 1-2 years in the role plus one year of mentoring replacement
Leader uniform required: no, but encouraged
